Privacy Policy

Last updated: April 14, 2026

TL;DR We do not collect, store, transmit, sell, or share any personal data. The app has no user accounts, no servers, no analytics, and no tracking. Every piece of data the app generates lives only on your device. If you delete the app, the data goes with it.

This is the privacy policy for Brashen (“the app”), an iOS, iPadOS, macOS, and watchOS app published by the Brashen team (“we”, “us”). Brashen is intentionally designed to collect as little data about you as possible.

Data we do not collect

We want to be specific. Brashen does not collect, transmit, or store on any server:

Data stored on your device

The app stores the following information locally on your device only, using Apple’s SwiftData framework:

This data never leaves your device. It is not backed up to our servers because we do not operate any servers.

iCloud sync

If you have iCloud enabled on your Apple devices, Brashen uses Apple’s CloudKit framework to sync your profile and quest history across devices signed in with the same Apple ID. This sync happens directly between your devices and Apple’s iCloud servers — the Brashen team has no access to it. The data is stored in your private CloudKit database, encrypted in transit and at rest by Apple, and governed by Apple’s privacy policy. You can disable iCloud sync at any time in iOS Settings → [your name] → iCloud → Apps Using iCloud.

Notifications

If you grant notification permission, Brashen schedules local notifications on your device using Apple’s UserNotifications framework. These are generated and delivered locally — they do not go through any push notification server. You can disable notifications at any time from the app’s Settings screen or from iOS Settings.

Location reminders

If you create a location-based reminder for a quest, Brashen stores the reminder geofence locally on your device and monitors it using Apple’s Core Location framework. Your location is never transmitted to us. When you enter the reminder region, iOS fires a local notification on your device and Brashen clears the geofence. You can disable location access any time in iOS Settings → Privacy → Location Services → Brashen.

In-app purchases

Purchases and subscriptions are handled entirely by Apple’s StoreKit 2 framework. Brashen never sees your payment information, card number, or App Store account details. The only thing the app stores locally is which products you’ve unlocked, so it can show you the right content.

Game Center leaderboards

If you opt in to Game Center leaderboards, the app submits anonymous scores (your longest streak, lifetime XP, and weekly brashen count) to Apple’s Game Center service via GameKit. These scores are tied to your Game Center identity — which is managed by Apple, not by us — and are governed by Apple’s privacy policy. You can opt out at any time by disabling Game Center in iOS Settings. Brashen does not read any personal data from Game Center.

Children

Brashen is rated 17+ in the App Store and is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone — including children — because we do not collect data at all.

Changes to this policy

If this policy ever changes, we will update the “Last updated” date above and announce material changes in an app update’s release notes. Because we collect no data, any change that affected your privacy would be a big deal, and we would treat it that way.
